Hair is such a visible part of one’s body that hair loss in men causes a lot of grief. Men greet the first signs of hair loss with dismay because they consider it to be non-reversible. Even if they do not turn entirely bald, most men will start losing their hair gradually as they age.
The most common form of hair loss in men is called androgenic alopecia. This is also known as male pattern balding. It is caused by the reaction of hair follicles to a male hormone. The hair loss happens when the growth phase of the hair is shortened and the hair grows very thin. The hair becomes shorter and thinner and so the hair growth appears to thin out. This sort of hair loss happens on the front, top and crown of the scalp.
It is a misconception that hair loss in men is caused by wearing caps or helmets or by using shampoos. Hair loss occurs due to hormonal imbalances that mostly come on with age.
You can reverse this condition, but you have to start early. Take good care of your hair; protect it from the sun and rinse it completely free of shampoo. Residual shampoo can damage the hair follicles causing hair loss.
The only part of your hair that is alive is the hair follicle which is in your scalp. In order to nourish your hair you need a diet rich in proteins and vitamins.
There are medical treatments that work very well but they tend to be expensive and messy.
There are certain natural products that can curtail hair loss. Ginkgo bilboa is a tree widely grown in China, Japan and Korea which is a very good anti oxidant and can increase the blood flow to the scalp. Green tea and pygeum are also effective.
If you start sufficiently early you stand a better chance of retaining your crowning glory.
